Privacy Policy for Gemstone

Welcome to Gemstone. We built this premium IPTV client exclusively for Apple TV (tvOS) with your privacy as a foundational principle. We believe that what you watch in your home is your business, which is why Gemstone is designed to process and store your data locally on your device.

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle data when you use the Gemstone application ("the App"). By using Gemstone, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information You Provide

IPTV Credentials and Playlists

To use Gemstone, you must connect a playlist via an M3U URL or Xtream Codes credentials (host URL, username, and password). We do not collect, transmit, or store this information on our own servers.

• Local Storage: Your playlists, Electronic Program Guide (EPG) data, watch history, favorites, and settings are saved locally on your Apple TV using Apple's secure Core Data framework.
• iCloud Keychain Sync: If you choose to use iCloud synchronization, your playlist credentials are securely stored and synced using your personal Apple iCloud Keychain. We do not have access to your Apple ID, iCloud account, or the synced data.

2. Automatically Collected Information

We do not track your viewing habits, content preferences, or search history. However, to help us understand app performance and resolve bugs, we utilize privacy-focused, anonymized analytics.

TelemetryDeck (Analytics)

We use TelemetryDeck to collect lightweight, fully anonymized telemetry data (such as app launch frequency or first-install signals). TelemetryDeck is built strictly for privacy:

• It does not collect personally identifiable information (PII).
• It does not track your IP address or link data to your identity.
• It helps us understand general app health (e.g., if a specific tvOS version is crashing) without compromising your privacy.

3. Third-Party API Integrations

Because Gemstone is a media player, it connects directly from your Apple TV to third-party services to fetch content and metadata. When the App connects to these services, your device's IP address will be exposed to them, as is standard with any internet connection.

• Your IPTV Provider: Gemstone connects directly to the URLs and servers you provide. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, data collection, or content of your third-party IPTV service provider.
• The Movie Database (TMDB): Gemstone securely connects to the TMDB API to enrich your media library with high-quality episode stills, posters, and metadata. Please review TMDB's Privacy Policy to understand how they handle these API requests.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

The only exceptions to our non-disclosure policy are:

• Legal Compliance: If we are required to do so by law, court order, or legal process. (Note: Because we do not store your data on our servers, we have practically no user information to hand over).
• Analytics: Completely anonymized, non-personal usage signals are processed by TelemetryDeck, as detailed in Section 2.

5. App Permissions

Gemstone requires the following standard tvOS permissions to function correctly:

• Network Access: Required to stream your live TV and VOD content, validate your playlists, download EPG data, and fetch TMDB metadata.
• iCloud (Optional): Required only if you choose to sync your playlist credentials across your Apple devices using iCloud Keychain.

6. Data Deletion and Your Rights

Because Gemstone operates entirely on your local device and your personal iCloud account, you have complete control over your data. To delete your data:

• Clear History: You can clear your watch history, favorites, and cached data directly within the Gemstone settings menu.
• Delete Playlists: Removing a playlist from the App will delete all associated local metadata.
• Delete the App: Uninstalling Gemstone from your Apple TV will permanently erase all local Core Data stored by the App.

If you reside in a jurisdiction with specific data privacy laws (such as the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), please note that your right to access, rectify, or erase data is inherently protected because you are the sole holder of that data on your physical device.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new app features or changes in Apple's tvOS guidelines. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document, and optionally via an in-app notice.
